Perhaps due to the construction and renovations around the building, the entrance to the Coaches Museum seemed a bit inconspicuous. However, once inside, the interior exhibit hall is grand with beautiful ceiling art. The Coaches Museum is housed in the former royal riding school situated next to Portugal President’s official residence in the Belem area. The collection of antique coaches from different centuries, some dating back to the 16th Century, is considered one of the best in the world. A banquet or cocktail held in the hall amongst the antique, gilded royal coaches is a truly unique experience. The Museum’s Main Hall can accommodate 250 guests for banquet, while the main hall together with the Gallery on the first floor can hold cocktail reception for up to 400 guests.

With its large collection of coaches, a new building across the road is being constructed to provide a more comprehensive exhibition. Nevertheless, this current historic building will continue to be available for private functions. For more information, visit: www.museudoscoches.pt
