The “Baltic Viking” is a river cruise along the Neris River in Vilnius, Lithuania, onboard a Viking ship. The ship, built as close to ancient viking vessels as possible, was handcrafted mainly by two craftsmen and one architect within six months. Although authenticity is key, safety of the passengers are also important and hence the use of modern tools, materials and engine.
As to what the Scandinavian Vikings got to do with Baltic Lithuania, the very knowledgeable guide, Kevin, will educate passengers onboard the ship, along with other interesting facts, history and anecdotes. Apart from enjoying the scenery of Vilnius old town, new town and more on both sides of the river, passengers also get to sample specially prepared food based on ancient documentation. As there were only two passengers on this specially arranged review in the sunset, there was a sense of serenity in this journey even with some light rowing activity, ‘battling’ with ancient weapons, and Lithuanian folk singing.
With more passengers, the Baltic Viking would be great fun and most appropriate for team-building with challenges in active rowing, singing and folk dancing activities. The full itinerary even include an exploration of a secret bay in Vilnius! The only setback is that, with only one ship for up to 16 passengers per trip, the capacity is a little limited for larger MICE groups.
