Located amidst 27 acres of pine forest and facing the Ugurys Lake in Lithuania, is IDW Esperanza Resort and Spa. The resort is indeed stunningly beautiful with all the nature surrounding it. To blend in with nature, the buildings of this resort are specially handcrafted and made of cedar logs imported from Canada. There are 34 guest rooms in this resort, and 2 villas are also available for rent if the need arises.

The resort offers a variety of facilities and activities for all seasons including water sports, forest hiking and biking, bird watching, tennis and indoor games. For all the spectacular natural flora and fauna, it is ironic that one of the unique selling point of this resort is its futuristic-looking spa. The most interesting treatment is the one called “Cloud 9”. “Cloud 9” imitates two clouds floating above each other to form a pleasant environment. The guest lying on the lower “cloud” would see stars in the night sky, mild flowing lights and changing colours, hear sounds of deep space (as in Hollywood space movies), and experience slight rocking. 20 minutes of time spent this ‘cloud’ is equivalent to two hours of deep sleep. However, this reviewer was probably too excited experiencing Cloud 9 for the first time, and too busy taking selfies that he cannot feel the sleep nor the rejuvenation after the treatment.

For those who prefer traditional spa, the resort’s Russian Bath House is also available for rent. Guests will surely feel re-born under the skillful hands of the spa’s certified specialist.

The activities and spa are definitely key attractions here. But back to serious meeting and conference, the resort’s Grand Hall can fit up to 120 guests in theatre style seating arrangement. Though not exactly “Grand” as the name suggests, this hall has a unique “attic” feel to it with its high, sloped wooden ceiling. The hall has sufficient natural sunlight through the roof skylight and windows, which can be dimmed with automated blinds at the touch of a button. The floor-to-ceiling windows provides a breathtaking view of the lake and the forests. Another hall accommodates smaller groups of up to 40 guests in theatre seating.

IDW Esperanza Resort and Spa is just about 40 minutes drive from Vilnius city centre, and 20 minutes from Trakai, a popular tourist attraction. It is definitely recommended for small to medium size corporate incentive groups.
